ABOUT US

Dalton Farrow Designs Ltd. is a mechanical design engineering consultancy based in the West Midlands close to the i54 Business Park Wolverhampton (The site of the new Jaguar Land Rover Engine Plant and MOOG).

The company was originally established in 1986 by Ivan Dalton and Lee Farrow, it was their aim to offer a high quality, multi-disciplined design service to the engineering industry. Over the last 15 years it has also become the mission of their sons Nick Dalton and Adrian Farrow, who are now joint managing directors of the company.

Whether your requirement is automatic assembly for small intricate mechanisms, or huge fabrications and assemblies, with a proven track record of over 31 years we have the expertise to help. Our team of highly skilled and dedicated engineers using the most up to date 2D and 3D design software can provide a high quality yet cost effective mechanical design solution

WHY USE A DESIGN CONSULTANCY?

With today’s ever shortening lead times, companies have to "hit the ground running", so when you experience design peaks, it isn't always possible to recruit suitable candidates immediately. Utilising a contract office for your design resources enables you to start your project, without having to go through the interview process and waiting for candidates to serve notice.

Also often forgotten are the financial advantages of using contract offices:-

You only pay when you want help; you save on space, equipment, hardware, software, pensions, national insurance contributions, holidays and sickness, with the ability to turn off your requirement without having to pay out redundancy payments. Your permanent staff can also feel secure in the knowledge that when work does drop off, they won't be as susceptible, because of the buffer provided by the contract office.

Industry Sectors

Although the company was started initially targeting the automotive industry, we have expanded into many different industry sectors, these include but are not limited to :-

  • Aerospace
  • Automotive
  • Inspection and Test Equipment
  • Military
  • Sub-Sea
  • Automation
  • Jig & Tool

The industry sectors in which we have been involved has been extremely diverse.

Diversification has been the key to our success, with fluctuations in the fortunes of most industries, the need to be flexible and adapt has been essential. Flexibility has also kept us keen, constantly learning about different businesses, processes and techniques, enabling us to utilise and apply these techniques where appropriate.

3D CAD MODELLING & 2D DRAUGHTING

Through our extensive use of 2D & 3D CAD software and the use of kinematics, customers now have the ability to visualise their products as 3d virtual models, with the added benefit of seeing virtual assemblies moving as they would when built.

Also customers have the option of utilising our In house high-performance 3d printing capability, and are now better able to appreciate their products with the use of 3d rapid prototypes, enabling enhancements if desired to be completed quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.

IN HOUSE HIGH PERFORMANCE 3D PRINTING CAPABILITY

Our In house high-performance 3d printing facility can be used to provide 3D rapid prototypes, mock-ups and scaled models.

ABS & PLA are the most common plastics used, however many more materials are available dependant on the application.

(3d print envelope is 200mm x 200mm x 180mm) although larger models can be built in stages.
