This machine was for testing the height adustment of car seats. (The seats could be at any height when presented for loading).

The seat assembly was manually loaded onto the loading table, the assembly was then transported via rodless pneumatic cylinder into the test station. The test assembly was then lowered by a pneumatic cylinder and allowed to float to suit the height of the seat, the test mechanism automatically located the seat drive shafts and performed rotational movements (through the use of servo motors and toothed belts) to check that the shafts moved within the test parameters, the seat heights were tested at the same time with the use of transducers.

On completion of the tests the test assembly was raised to it's upper position,  then the loading table was  returned to the load station for seat removal.
